On the sidelines of the preparations for the G20 Summit in Bali, the Djarum Foundation Environmental Service through the Trees for Life program planted 5,000 mangrove seedlings at the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park, Denpasar, Bali on Wednesday 31.8.2022.
 
This planting is carried out by the Darling Squad community (@adar Lingkungan Squad), a youth movement organization that cares about the environment, which was created by the Djarum Foundation. Apart from mangroves, his party has previously planted a large number of plants.” Djarum Foundation has planted thousands of trembesi, God willing, with the help of all, this will become lighter, and (nature) will be healthy.” Meanwhile, Inge Retnowati, Director of Land Water and Mangrove Rehabilitation, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (RPDM KLHK), highlighted the many benefits from planting mangroves, starting from the environment, social and economic.
 
“Many benefits of mangroves in the ecosystem, ranging from being a habitat for fish, resisting abrasion to influencing climate change,” said Inge. “Mangroves absorb carbon four times that of ordinary plain trees. With high mangroves, we also contribute to the influence of the global climate.” The planting of 5,000 mangrove seedlings by Darling Squad, the initiation of Bakti Lingku only Djarum Foundations. Through his literature study, Secretary of the Center for Agrarian Studies of IPB, Soni Trison, said that mangrove plants have a fairly large value of Rp. 17-84 million per hectare. There are also direct benefits of mangroves such as processing parts of mangroves to be processed into economic goods.

Mangroves can become commodities that can be processed, such as Mangrove batik and Mangrove crackers. Representing the Governor of Bali, Assistant for Government and Welfare of the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, I Gede Indra Dewa Putra, said that Tahura Ngurah Rai is home to 44% of mangroves in Bali. In total there are 17 species of true mangroves and 16 species of mangrove associates.

Nana Mirdad, as a young Indonesian artist, also attended the planting of 5,000 mangrove seedlings, as a youth representative calling on young people to be more responsible for the environment. “Starting from small things, such as not using single-use plastic containers, plastic straws and eating plant-based food.
 
The problem now is that young people focus more on things that don’t have a good impact.
