GREAT HARVEST OF VEGETABLES AT THE STATE PRISON, 3 QUINTALS OF GREEN VEGETABLES ARE READY TO BE MARKETED


NEGARA – RUTAN – DETEKSIPODT.COM In accordance with the mandate of the latest Corrections Law, namely Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections where the main focus of Correctional Institutions (Lapas) and State Detention Centers (Rutan) is security and guidance, therefore the State Detention Center continues to improve coaching for Correctional Families (WBP).
 
Various types of coaching have been carried out to become provisions for WBP after serving their criminal past, including furniture, animal husbandry, fisheries, landfilling, concrete blocks and plantations. As seen Monday (19/12), Satrya Dharma as the manager of self-reliance coaching invited WBP in the plantation sector to harvest vegetables.
 
With weedy land that was previously unused, an area of ​​50×3 meters of vacant land is filled with fresh and healthy green vegetables. Unexpectedly, after two months, the weed land was able to produce 300 kg or as much as 3 quintals of green vegetables which were ready to be marketed.
 
As for hydroponics, it only takes about one month to produce 50 kg of healthy and fresh kale in an area of ​​only 8 x 1 meter.
 
“The harvest this time is quite a lot, we plan to market it to the community and detention center staff at competitive prices, of course. Apart from that, we also have eggplants that are still in the process,” said Satrya Dharma promotion. The green vegetables and kale are planned to be sold at Rp. 5,000 per kg.
 
Several officers were seen flocking to buy the vegetables harvested this time. “I’m just happy to buy kale here, because you already know the process of planting it. Well guaranteed to be clean and healthy,” explained Juli Tresna, a loyal customer of the State Detention Center open camp.
 
Guidance at the State Detention Center does not only get support from internal parties but also from external parties such as coaching in the livestock sector in collaboration with the Regional Government of Jembrana Regency. “We will continue to encourage development in detention centers in accordance with the mandate of the Correctional Law.
