Furthermore, RSI Shiva Buddha added, the metatah tradition has been carried out by the Balinese people since the first and has become a cultural heritage from generation to generation. Metatah comes from the word “tatah” which means “chisel” in Balinese. So, the actual teeth are not actually cut, but scraped with a certain technique. This ritual is done by scraping 6 teeth.
The implementation of this ceremony is closely related to the yadnya as a symbol carried out by teenagers who have grown up or people who are ready to get married.
