Indonesian Cyber Media Network Appointed as Constituent of Press Council

JAKARTA – DETEKSIPOST.COM – An internet-based mass media organization, the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI), has been appointed as a constituent of the Press Council. The decision was made in the Plenary Meeting of the Press Council on Thursday afternoon (6/1/2022).

The Plenary Meeting on the appointment of JMSI as a constituent of the Press Council was conducted virtually and chaired directly by the Chairman of the Press Council, M. Nuh.

JMSI was established at the National Press Day (HPN) 2020 arena in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Now the organization, which is led by the duo Teguh Santosa and Mahmud Marhaba, already has Regional Committees in 31 provinces.

Prior to being appointed as a Constituent of the Press Council, JMSI both at the center and at the regional level followed strict administrative and factual verification.

In a statement after receiving the information on the determination, the General Chairperson of JMSI Teguh Santosa expressed his gratitude to all JMSI administrators at the central, regional and branch levels, who have worked hard in almost two years to build this organization.

The former member of the Honorary Council of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) once again said that JMSI was established not only to be a constituent of the Press Council, but also to participate in building a healthy and professional national press ecosystem.

“Cyber media companies must be business-savvy. This is not a simple challenge in the midst of increasingly fierce competition. News products produced by cyber media companies must follow journalistic rules. This is also not a small challenge amid the temptation to be the fastest,” said Teguh, who was once Vice President of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ).

Teguh Santosa, who was in Palu, Central Sulawesi, in his written statement also thanked the Press Council for accompanying JMSI during both administrative and factual verification.

“This is the most beautiful gift for all of us at the beginning of the year. Great friends, thank you for your hard work so far,” said Teguh Santosa. (team).
